I now have had the experience of dialing 911. Bug had seizures and temporarily stopped breathing (not sure why; possibly a withdrawal from Morphine due to a pharmacy mixup; but as they also take larger doses of Kadian (a morphine extended release) no one expected there to be any significant side effect from lack of smaller dose instant release tablets)pent the night in ER; had bloodwork and brain scans done and was told nothing was out of the ordinary. Meds have since been refilled and seizures haven't re-occurred.

Meanwhile, I have my own pharmacy/insurance mix-up we're tryign to sort out. The insurance company assures me that Generic Tramadol ER tablets are a flat generic copay of $9, with no deductible required. Yet the pharmacy tells me that when they submit it, it comes back with a $90-some dollar copay. I've done tramadol withdrawal before- I'm cranky, in lots of pain and hide in bed a lot- but no seizures. If I could, I'd just pay the $90 and work things out to get a refund, except that i don't have that much money atm. Last month we were short on money (a long story that has half to do with my poor budgeting and half to do with so called "helpers" for disabled people stealing stuff (inc credit cards and bank account info) from our house(old post about this)) so I ended up paying Jan's mortgage late (paid it with Feb's on the 3rd; but first got some scary letters from the bank)- So, because I paid 2 mortgages out of this month's budget, I cant afford to pay anything else- so utilities etc are going to all be late and I'll be paying both Feb and March out of March's income (thankfully "everything else" is about half of 1 mortgage, so unlike this month, we'll have money to spare/work with next month... Plus I have lots of fancy pet rat babies that will be old enough to place later in Feb and in March, so that will help considerably)

Speaking of next month... I'm excitedly looking forward to putting in our poultry order- going to get a few (heritage) Turkey poults, and some more meat/egg chickens (Bug's coming to terms with that if we're going to eat meat, raising our own is more ethical/humane than what we can get in the stores). One or two of the lucky turkeys that are females will be spared over to remain as pets and companions to Charles our pet male turkey (who has been quite lonely since his mate died last year).  The rest, well they will have a good life - running free in pasture and under shrubs and eating a variety of yummy foods, before ending up on the holiday table.

There is also a good chance (*crosses fingers*) that we will get a ram (*and* at a great price because his owner thought she might use him, and then never did, and he's past the popular "lamb" age to 3 babydoll sheepsell.... this though is actually really good for us, not just in price but because we be sure he is calm even after becoming fertile). Anyway, if we get him, this would be our 4th and last sheep (all Babydolls); the others we have are 2 wethers (neutered males) and one ewe (female). We can expect 2 lambs then to be born every spring. We can then either sell them as registered purebred babydolls (typically ewe and ram lambs go for $300-$400 depending if they are white or black; and wethers for around $125-175); or we can send them off to locker camp. I mentioned this to my mum (who thinks we're kinda nuts to: A. raise our own food and B. raise fancy show rats- and has actually asked my therapists in the past if they could talk me out of it...) and the first thing she said was: "Oh, I like rack of lamb!"

We do have a new aide for Bug- so far they seem nice, they haven't swept the dirt under the sofa  (we don't have a rug for that),  and I don't think they've stolen anything!  (Its really sad that this has become a criteria).  Her mother actually likes duck eggs (used to live on a farm) so I've been giving her our duck eggs and some chicken eggs which I'm told have been appreciated.  (Duck eggs are good for baking, but anythign else- they're kinda "gooey" in texture- some people love them, some hate them.

I Want to do more writing- but other than a few journal posts, haven't had much time to get on the computer for any length of time.

I see I have a gazillion (it feels like) snarry fics to read from the last fest... I keep telling myself that having lots of snarry to read is normally a good thing, lol.  In the last exchange, Bug and i wrote: Wandless; and
[personal profile] gingertart50 wrote Heart of Stone for us, which I still have to read.  Bug and i actually have an epilogue for Wandless but couldn't get it done in time- fortunately it stood on its own.  But, I'll try to get that up soon.  Although "soon" is relative and our track record has been pretty abysmal...

Oh hell, look at the time, and i have to be up at a decent hour tomorrow :-(

Back, trouble sleeping.  And I see Bug is still up on second life in zombie mode.  The house call dr put them on Lunesta- which past experience tells us is BAD NEWS (eg: sleep walking/sleep online surfing with no clue wtf you are doing).  I've already had to rescue them from almost walking off the bed, trying to grab the rotating ceiling fan.  They went to our regular dr who instead of prescribing something else, increased the lunesta dose!  I fully expect them to fall down the stairs, and/or spend a thousand dollars online on virtual "goods".  There has got to be something else they can take, (other than Ambien which was just as bad).  Do the drug co's give the dr's kick backs that outweigh the risk of being sued by people who get injured/killed on these drugs???? >:(

Ack! What terrible news. D: I hope Bug continues to improve (and that you yourself get a decent night's sleep to recover).

A ram! I hope he turns out to be very docile, and that rack of lamb will be enjoyed at some point in future... :D What do you use the wethers for? Are they a meat+wool producing breed, so you shear them? Or are they just company for the ewe?

Turkeys! Yay. They're such funny-looking birds, I have a soft spot for them. (Maybe linked to the fact that I'm not a huge fan of eating them... except smoked drumsticks.) :D I'm so glad you both are able to raise some of your own food, and you're so right about it being more ethically treated -- at the very least, it's much easier to know it was ethically treated!

Enjoy the Snarry fest -- I'm not done reading there, myself, but I've got through about half a dozen stories so far and enjoyed most of them!

Regarding the Lunesta: Surely there's something else; wish I could give suggestions but I am one of those people who sleeps at the drop of a hat (barring, anyway, when I'm deliberately wired with caffeine)... Can't do much about sleepwalking, either, but I know there are programs that can block your internet for a set time period -- made for people who, say, want to keep themselves from being distracted when working. I bet there are free downloads, and then you could set it up so that the internet is blocked after X:00 P.M. to prevent sleepbrowsing.

Feel better, both of you!

(One day, when I finally have a place of my own, I want one of your fancy rats! I've always wanted a rat. Well, two, actually. I have names picked out and everything.) :D

My god, how terrifying! I'm glad to hear from you though.

Yeah, they get kickbacks. Maybe you could hide credit cards or whatever Bug is using to pay?

Those sheep are adorable! I'm glad you've got some hopeful things to look forward to.
